So after being a lazy prick about it I finally updated my Windows 8 to 8.1 and I've got a massive issue. I need to put pictures on my computer but it just stays on this screen you see here. Trying with either the SD card from the camera or connecting the camera itself doesn't matter. I will say there's alot of photos on my card so a cleaning might be needed, but is there something wrong here? If so please tell me because it's super important I get my photos on my PC.

Stop using the Pictures app. Insert SD card, open my computer, drag and drop to the My Pictures folder. Simple enough.

Also, it's probably trying to index the SD card and/or the camera, which is what's causing that long wait. Just don't do it that way, it's pointless and makes no sense when you could already have been done by now. I use 8.1 on a very regular basis, so yeah, it's exactly how I do it.

Bingo. Skip the app and do a straight copy/paste in Windows Explorer.

Well, just tried that and it was massively easier, quicker, and far more simple than what I used to do. As I've shown many times i r stoopid. You saved me alot of trouble. Have an AAR 'cuda for your time.

When I put my SDcard in/connect my camera. it's the pictures app. Doesn't matter anymore though since I'm just a moron as I just found out.

Youre welcome. I worked in a computer shop for 5 years and it was my job to simplify things for the client.

You can deliver the AAR to where my SL gets stored. It'll be fun to choose between the two.
